A sure sign that summertime is upon us in East Tennessee? Seeing tractors cutting the fields for hay (not to mention allergies in full effect – haha). Since moving out into a more rural area onto a little bit of land, we see this first hand on both our property, as well as our neighboring lots. Of course, the photographer in me cringes at the sight of beautiful fields of flowers (read: weeds) & tall grass blowing freely in the wind being cut to the ground. I understand the reason behind it & know that it needs to be done but that doesn’t make me any happier about it. haha.
Knowing that our field, as well as the ones on each side of us are getting ready to meet their cutting fate, I decided to grab my camera, a chair, a blanket, my husband, & my babies for a mini photo session. I love love LOVE the feel of backlit images, & this particular spot lent itself perfectly to just that. A bonus – my children were actually somewhat cooperative, which is rare since they now BOTH suffer from what is known as PCS (photographer’s child syndrome).
I am seriously in love with the feel of these images & of course, with the sweet little models!
I am also lucky enough to have a sweet husband that can capture some pretty amazing images himself. I have even joked that he may need to be added to the payroll soon! haha. He took over my camera for a few shots of me with my beautiful babies after I finished our little mini session. Emma was pretty much over it, but Branson still had a little bit of cooperation left in him, thankfully. I could not ask for a sweeter image of me with my little man!
